It works with the Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) to get your emails to the right computer and email account.
SMTP controls how emails move from the MTA on one computer to the MTA on another or more computers. From the computer to where it needs to go, the word can move in steps. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, or SMTP, is always doing its job.
How to Fix WordPress Contact Form 7 Error

Step 1: Install the WP Mail SMTP Plugin and turn it on.
Step 2: Go to the settings for the Mailer on the WP Mail SMTP Plugin
Go to Dashboard > WP Mail SMTP > Settings > Mailer, then scroll down. PHP is set as the usual mailer, which you can see. You have to choose the carrier you want to use. If you don’t use any of the ones listed, choose “Other SMTP.”
